Generic Zantac (Ranitidine, Zantac® equivalent)

Ranitidine is in a group of medications called histamine-2 blockers. Ranitidine works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach produces. Ranitidine is used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It also treats conditions in which the stomach produces too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Ranitidine also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and other conditions in which acid backs up from the stomach into the esophagus, causing heartburn.

CAUSES OF CANCER: OTHER CANCER RISK FACTORS

Estrogen Estrogen treatment to control menopausal symptoms can increase the risk of contracting uterine cancer. However, including progesterone in estrogen replacement therapy helps minimize this risk. Estrogen replacement therapy helps prevent osteoporosis in women—a far more prevalent condition in older women than is uterine cancer. Continued research is being conducted to clarify the relationship between estrogen replacement therapy and the subsequent development of breast cancer. Studies to date have been contradictory. Consultation with a physician will help each woman to assess personal risks and benefits of estrogen treatment.
Alcohol Excessive alcohol consumption in any form is another cancer risk factor. Oral cancer and cancers of the larynx, throat, esophagus, and liver occur more frequently among heavy drinkers of alcohol, especially among those who smoke cigarettes or chew tobacco.
Carcinogens Agents (toxins, chemicals, and so forth) that can cause cancer.
Nutrition The foods we eat are related to our risk of contracting cancer. Diets high in fatty foods may be a factor in the development of breast, colon, and prostate cancers. Eating salt-cured and smoked foods frequently places you at risk of cancer of the esophagus and stomach. And, individuals 40 percent and more overweight have an increased risk of colon, breast, prostate, gallbladder, ovary, and uterine cancers. On the other hand, diets consisting of recommended servings of fruits and vegetables are associated with a decreased risk of lung, prostate, bladder, esophagus, colorectal, and stomach cancers; and ingestion of high-fiber foods appears related to a decreased risk of colon cancer.
